Unless a person is in deep self-denial and convinces herself that all is well existing in the rat race, most people stay there because of fear. They are afraid to jump off the wheel because the future looks uncertain.
It’s also to do with their priorities. Those to whom freedom is the most important thing, will jump off. Those who say that freedom is the most important thing but don’t jump off the wheel, lie to themselves. Their priority is money and security, and that’s why they don’t jump.
So the first thing to do is to evaluate your priorities, and change them consciously, if you realize that you worship the wrong god.
If you really trust God and you want freedom, you will jump off. If you only say that you trust God and want freedom but don’t jump off, your god is matter and not Spirit. Because if you really would know that you are a part of God, you would know that you are indestructible, and you would not be afraid to take risks.
So these are the most important things to keep in mind, because most people lie to themselves about these foundational matters, and this will never allow them to escape the hamster wheel.
The American dream
The USA is advertised as the dream place to move to. But the USA has the smartest system to keep you in the loop. The same applies to all developed countries, especially to the UK and Australia, but to a little lesser degree, and it gets better in Europe.
I remember when I was growing up in Lithuania, there was much propaganda about the US life. Whenever New York would be shown, an inspirational music would play which would make you feel happy. Naturally, you would associate the image on the screen with that music, and the immature brain concluded that life in NY was awesome.
Such and similar programs were instilled in human brains for so long that they cannot see the reality for advertisements. They really believe the life in the countries such as the US is the best.
But the most developed countries in the West have the systems established to keep you looping till you die. Yes, you can make a lot, but then the system will take it all back from you. And it can even get worse, where you cannot get out of debt because advertisements and societal pressure make you spend more than you earn.
Once you get into such systems, it will require willpower, delayed gratification, and planning to escape. But this can be a great training for your soul, and when you escape it, you aren’t likely to get into the same trap again.
If you are on a hamster wheel already, here’s how to escape.
First, you need to absolutely cut all the expenses that are not necessary for you to have. Only spend money on food and bills, and other absolutely necessary purchases and subscriptions.
You will need to forget the sick preoccupation of keeping up with the joneses. You won’t be able to buy new phones or anything like that, if you really value freedom.
Also, you will need to move where it’s very cheap to live. It’s better to share the place with others for some time and live in a tiny room, than to live in a dangerous area.
You will need to gradually transition to the work that makes you location-independent, unless you want to stay in some location for the rest of your life. If that’s you, the goal may be to save so that you can buy a piece of land and start gradually building. Once you have your own place which is mortgage free, you are in a good condition indeed.
There are good opportunities to have an online business now, as a freelancer, website owner, or vlogger. The key is to master some skill and then show it to others, which is easy to do in this internet age. Then, if you have no clients, you can do ten or so jobs that are totally free in return for feedback, and then you can start charging for your work. But to succeed, you must be good at what you do.
It’s really easy to succeed in this internet age with a useful skill.
For example, I created a new astrology channel and I only got 23-or-so old channel subscribers joining. However, in less than three months, it already has 230 subscribers, and I’m getting new clients for my work already. And that is in less than three months.
The key is to be good at what you do, show how good you are, get feedback, and provide a simple-to-understand offer.
The market decides how much you charge. If you get no clients but people check your offer, it means the price is too high. First, you should make the offer low, and when you get clients, keep increasing it, according to the market demand.
It’s much easier to succeed when you need very little to survive on. So your goal should be to cut all the unnecessary expenses, and to move to a place where you need to pay very little to survive.
If your country doesn’t have such options, or the cheap options are unsafe, you may need to move abroad.
For those who don’t travel much or only do so on package holidays, this may seem an expensive and dangerous thing to do. But it’s simply not true – traveling to cheap countries can be very safe and exciting, you just need to read about and respect the culture, and not to stand out too much.
If you are from a developed country, you can get long visas to stay in developing countries, and visa runs can be cheap too, to come back to the same countries with new visas.
It’s very easy to stay in cheap countries and to circle around them with spending very little, without even settling anywhere. You can do this on savings, but ideally, you would be already working to establish yourself as an online expert in your niche, and start earning at least a little regular income.
If you de-register as a tax payer from your country and you travel without staying long anywhere, you don’t need to pay taxes. But this means you’ll need to change your country of residence every 6 months or so. Though I know people who stayed in some less developed countries for years, doing only visa runs for a day or a month, and they don’t get into any trouble.
You’ll need to talk to hippy-looking seasoned travelers and they’ll give you plenty of tips on how to travel almost for nothing.
So as you see, it’s all in the mind. If you live in your mental space with the thoughts such as “It’s expensive to travel”, this is your personal reality. But the objective reality is different.
You can also get odd jobs here and there during your travels, where the pay is cash or you get food and accommodation in exchange for your work. I knew people as such who managed to stay in India for years, just doing short visa runs.
They would travel to a new place and ask around in restaurants and guest houses if anyone needs any work. Such work always turns up. People live this way all their lives sometimes, and when they get old, they are already so travel-wise that they’d be able to survive having no home base.
Here’s some other important advice. If you are in a self-pity cycle, please get off it as soon as possible. It doesn’t help you, and this low vibration puts obstacles for other people, as we are all connected. We are all responsible for our lives, and if we created a bad karma in this or past lives, we will have to repay it.
It’s not others that cause obstacles, it’s our karma that is sometimes given to us through others. Life will get much easier if you take responsibility and take action instead of wallowing in negative emotions. Nobody will lift you out of your self-created conditions but you.
It’s important to understand the changing wealth accumulation. The wealth is now being transferred from the West to the East. The East is getting richer, the West is getting more restricted and poorer.
It is very obvious in the tourist areas of India. Now Indians spend more than foreigners. This never was the case before. Also, I’m noticing the change in my clients. Now I get more orders from the people from the East than I do from those of the West.
There are many more business and work opportunities in the East right now. The East is also much more alive, whilst the West is dying in many ways. This is very obvious for long-term travelers. The western population is aging and decreasing, the money is leaving those countries; the atmosphere has no energy there. The future, I believe, is in the East.
Buy the time to think and to create freedom
100 USD can stretch much in undeveloped or developing countries.
For example, do you know you could stay, for example, in Egypt, very close to the pyramids for one month for 100 USD or less?
Can you see how important it is to save? Western money can be stretched wide in developing countries. So it makes sense to save a thousand dollars or two, and then travel to some very cheap but pleasant country, and to stay there long term, to think, to plan your business or online work, and then to start it.
It could be, if you’re good at what you do and you market yourself well, that you’ll be able to cover your travel expenses with your new business money before your savings run out.
So these are some things to think about. When you are on the hamster wheel, the situation may seem worse than it is. See beyond your situation. See your situation through my eyes, the eyes of a person who’s been out of the system for fifteen years.
If I escaped the loop, being the first self-employed person out of all my family and maybe even in the whole neighborhood, you can do too. It’s not difficult, you just need to really consider and apply the tips mentioned in this article.
You are right, Simona ! American dream is nothing but a Lie.
Yes;)
The lure of the west is ‘happiness is tomorrow”.
The lure of the East is ‘happiness is now. Be present” ):
Yes!
